MANDATORY DIDACTIC ATTENDANCE-
Revised 01/2016
-
Morning conference
attendance is an expected resident responsibility and
demonstrates an essential facet of professional behavior.
-
If a resident has 5 or
more unexcused absences in any calendar month, Dr. Knox will be
notified and the resident will receive a warning.
-
If a resident has a
second occurrence with in a 6 month period it will be brought to
the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) semiannual review and
the resident will receive an unsatisfactory rating for
attendance for this 6 month period and an automatic “needs
improvement” for professionalism in semi-annual report. The CCC
will consider these evaluations when determining 6 month CCC
reports for the ABA.
-
If your monthly rotation is: “CT/APAC/OR(VASC,ENT,A/W,etc)/PACU/ECHO/NEURO/RESEARCH/”
your presence is required. Shrine and OB expect Wednesday
conference attendance. Attendance is encouraged on other UTMB
rotations and post-call. You are automatically excused if you
are post-call, off service, or on vacation.
An absence on Wednesday
will count as 2 absences, be sure to sign in for each session.
Residents with valid excuses for not attending a lecture (relief
of on-call resident, asked by faculty to start case early, sent
off service etc.) must submit that excuse by email to Lyndsey Phillips, with copy to faculty, on the day of the absence.
-
Please be considerate of
the speakers and arrive on time. Swipe or sign-in by 06:50 to
get credit for attendance. Room set-ups should be completed
prior to conference.
-
Signing in and leaving is
not acceptable. Honesty and professionalism are expected
attributes for satisfactory resident performance.
