Our department looks forward to introducing new medical students to the field of Anesthesiology. After completion of 1st year, students have the opportunity to experience Anesthesiology during our Preceptor Program. Third year surgical clerkship students spend a day with our department to learn basic anesthesia concepts and preoperative evaluation. During the 4th year surgical clerkship, medical students attend a Basic Airway Course in our Simulation Center. Fourth year medical students can also choose from a variety of Anesthesiology Electives.
The Department of Anesthesiology invites UTMB Students interested in Anesthesiology to join the Anesthesia Club. Our department also sponsors a Medical Student Job to
allow students to get acquainted with our faculty and residents while learning more about the exciting field of Anesthesiology.
